Product Features:

The DS18B20 digital temperature sensor is a 1-Wire bus digital temperature sensor manufactured by Dallas Semiconductor (now Maxim Integrated) in the USA. Its temperature measurement range is -55°C to +125°C. It features a 64-bit read-only memory (ROM) that stores the device's unique serial number. This allows multiple DS18B20 sensors to be connected in parallel on a single 1-Wire bus simultaneously. A single microcontroller can control many DS18B20s distributed over a large area. This feature is very useful in applications such as HVAC environmental control, monitoring temperature within buildings, equipment, or machinery, and process monitoring and control. (Note: Typically, a maximum of 8 sensors can be connected in parallel for multi-point temperature measurement. Exceeding this number may cause the supply voltage to drop too low, leading to unstable signal transmission.)

The device's internal scratchpad memory contains a 2-byte temperature register to store the temperature sensor's output data. Additionally, the scratchpad includes 1-byte high and low temperature alarm registers (TH and TL) and a 1-byte configuration register. The configuration register allows the user to set the temperature measurement resolution to 9, 10, 11, or 12 bits, corresponding to resolutions of 0.5°C, 0.25°C, 0.125°C, and 0.0625°C, respectively. The TH, TL, and configuration registers are EEPROM, so data is retained even when the device is powered off.

Another key feature of the DS18B20 is its ability to operate without an external power supply. In this mode, when the bus is high, the DQ pin, connected to a pull-up resistor, powers the device via the 1-Wire bus. The high bus signal charges an internal capacitor (Cpp), which then supplies energy to the device when the bus is low. This power supply method is called "parasite power." In parasite power mode, the VDD pin must be connected to ground. Alternatively, the DS18B20 can be powered by an external power supply connected to the VDD pin.

The module features built-in pull-up resistors and an onboard power indicator LED.

Product Parameters:

  • Operating Voltage: 3V ~ 5.5V
  • Temperature Measurement Range:-55°C ~ +125°C (-67°F ~ +257°F) with ±2°C accuracy-10°C ~ +85°C with ±0.5°C accuracy
  • Board Dimensions: 21mm x 10mm

Instructions:

Connect VCC to 3V ~ 5.5V and GND to the negative terminal of the power supply. The power indicator LED will light up. The data output is available on the DO pin. Download the corresponding driver program to use the module.

Caution:

Ensure correct wiring! Do not reverse the positive and negative connections, as this will damage the electronic components on the board.
